Gymnastics Life

 

Annika loves to perform, and gymnastics is one of her favorite ways to express that. She started gymnastics at age 4 and began competing at 8. Over the years, the sport has taught her discipline, focus, and confidence - it's been a huge part of her life growing up.

Annika is a 5-time Provincial Champion and an Atlantic Canada Championship all around gold medalist. Most recently, she joined the prestigious "38 Club" by scoring 38.300 in competition.

“There’s no better feeling than performing a routine at your very best, knowing you worked hard all season to get it right. No matter where I place, if I did my best, I feel proud and happy!"

Dance Life

Dance is another way Annika loves to perform! While gymnastics is all about precision and power, dance gives her the freedom to express emotion and tell stories through movement. She says the art forms complement each other, each bringing out a different side of her.

Annika first tried ballet at age 12 during a summer technique class, after training in styles like hip hop, jazz, and contemporary. Despite concerns that starting ballet “late” might be too difficult, she immediately loved the challenge - and decided to focus solely on ballet from then on. A year later she performed en pointe as a White Swan in Swan Lake during a year-end dance showcase - a moment she was incredibly proud of. Other performances include ballet dances from Alice in Wonderland and The Nutcracker in dance showcases.

Free Time

 

When Annika has free time, she loves being active with friends - whether it's playing on the school’s volleyball team or a fun game of badminton. Being outside is one of her favorite things; going for walks, exploring new places, and especially spending time near the water always makes her heart happy. She spent summers camping by the shore as a child and still feels most at home there.

With such a busy schedule, Annika also values quiet moments at home. She unwinds by reading (she’s currently into The Selection series), watching teen dramas, making art, or snuggling with her pets.

She gets especially excited about fashion, the arts, and travel. One of her favorite adventures was visiting New York City, where she modeled in New York Fashion Week and saw Wicked on Broadway - a trip she’ll never forget.
